Additional written/training materials are not included for repeat handlers.
Pre-requisite for K9 participation: Level 1 HRD/Scent Detector Class
**Some exceptions may be considered on case by case basis.
Equipment Required:
25 ft+ long line (no flexi-leads)
Non-slip collar or harness
moist treats (cooked chicken, cheese, lunch meat, hot dogs, Bil Jac, etc)
favorite toy(s)
Course Agenda:
Implementing the Alert
Back Chaining
Alert Drills
Elevated Target Scents
Subsurface Target Scents
Scent Discrimination
Controlled "partial blinds" for Surface Target Scents.
What to Expect by end of Course:
Handler understands how to implement and stregthen alert behavior
K9 has started to recognize possibility of target scent to be elevated or subsurface
K9 is starting to discriminate for specific target scent with distractors present
Handler/K9 able to locate above ground target scent in a "partially blind" scenario.
Handler/dog $130 (First Timers)
Repeat Dog Team $90
